Las Vegas

Umm... This city kind of sums up everything that is great and wrong in USA. It is an absurdly flamboyant display of superfluous spending, incredible center of culture and a parade to the inequality of people. It's awesome and disgusting at the same time and I don't really know if I want to spend a lot of time in here or do I want to get away as fast as possible. But the oasis of vice is intriguing - that I cannot deny.

Yesterday I arrived to the city and checked myself in to a moderately priced casino hotel at the end of The Strip. It has seen better days but a soft king size bed and the price of 25 dollars per night make up a lot. Especially since in SF a dorm bed will cost you about 50 bucks and roadside motels are hard to come by for under 80. At least in the tourist season.

I went to see The Blue Man Group yesterday. I was mesmerized and couldn't help but to stare in awe. Musically it was incredible and the creativity behind their custom made instrument was stunning just by itself. But when the creativity is combined with such talent and vigor it creates a whole that is definitely more than the sum of it's parts. The humor was also right up my alley and the pantomime worked better than I would have ever expected. And the on-stage technology was simple but used in a fashion that puts many other special effects extravaganzas to shame. And I've never experienced such a great audience interaction in any show. And by the end of the evening I was so captivated by the show that I will most likely remember it vividly for the rest of my life. Kind of puts a lot of pressure for Penn & Teller tonight...

A thing worth mentioning is also the steak house at Circus Circus. It is on par with the previous "best steak ever" at El Gaucho in London. And I also went on a huge shopping spree by my standards and so far I think I've bought more clothes during the past week than I have during this year. When in Rome...
